Stochastic Programming Model Integrating Pyrolysis Byproducts in the Design of Bioenergy Supply Chains

Biomass is an abundant resource for energy production and it has gained attention as a mainstream option to meet increasing demands. Pyrolysis been one of the most prevalent thermochemical processes biomass conversion. In pyrolysis process, decomposes into three byproducts: bio-oil (60–75%), biochar (15–25%), syngas (10–20%), depending on feedstock its composition. The required convert varies levels cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin. This work proposes novel two-stage stochastic model that designs efficient supply chain mindful trade-offs between byproducts (bioethanol biochar). Remarkably, integrates quality-related costs associated with moisture ash content such consumption preprocessing equipment boiler maintenance due excess ash. quality directly affects yield well total cost distribution. results from our case study indicate shortage suppliers fulfill demand power plants bioethanol cities. Furthermore, price impact according sensitivity analysis.
